Advocacy means getting support from another person to help you express your views and wishes and help you stand up for your rights. Someone who helps you in this way is called your advocate.
The role of an advocate depends on your situation and the support you want. They are there to support your choices.
An advocate can:
listen to your views and concerns
help you explore your options and rights (without pressuring you)
provide information to help you make informed decisions
help you contact relevant people, or contact them on your behalf
accompany you and support you in meetings or appointments
An advocate will not:
give you their personal opinion
solve problems and make decisions for you
make judgements about you

The WaNIdAk Advocacy Group's goal on this page is to clearly communicate all the options without any direct or implied bias towards/against any of the options. Clients should feel fully free to pick the best option for their situation OR to receive services from all of the different entities. Anyone who accesses these services should feel free to change their minds and switch providers at any time during the process. Clients can ghost advocates for any reason, for any length of time, and the door will be open when you need help again.
If you are a survivor of abuse connected with our fellowship and want additional resources please reach out to Natalie Bolin DSW, LCSW executive director of AFTT. AFTT is a nonprofit organization that gives a voice, protection and justice to survivors.
AFTT also has a reporting hotline and perpetrator database for abuse in our fellowship. They work under the ethical provisions of certifications and licenses. All reports that come in through AFTT are offered survivor and communal care.
If you are a survivor of child sex abuse or sexual assault, please call the international and national hotline to speak with private investigator, Cynthia Liles.

Voices for the Truth is a collaborative and consensus-driven organization whose sole purpose is to support victim-survivors and others affected by SA or CSA within the Truth and prevent further SA and CSA.
Voices Victim-Survivor Support Hotline is now live between 9 am and 9 pm ET at 928-756-8654. This confidential phone line is operated exclusively by trauma-informed professionals provided by RAINN, the operators of the National Sexual Assault Hotline. They have been working with us to understand the specific contexts and needs of those affected by SA and CSA while in the Truth. As a hotline focused on support rather than investigation, callers will never be asked to share details about themselves or their perpetrators.

FAQ

I’m a wife and mom who was born and raised in this fellowship. While I no longer attend as a regular member, I’ve continued walking with Jesus and feel passionately about caring for and protecting the abused and vulnerable. Being an advocate is a way in which I can help participate in bringing healing and justice to people’s hurt and pain. I know the loneliness and dejection of not being advocated for when I desperately needed someone in my corner. I’ve also had the privilege at times of people walking alongside me, validating my feelings, and advocating for me. I want to be available to walk with others on this delicate and vulnerable part of their journey.
I am a wife, mother and follower of Jesus. Loving people well is a powerful and beautiful responsibility.
I believe in standing in the gap for those who need it. I believe everyone deserves to have their voice heard, I will listen and I will be your voice if you need me to be. I believe everyone has the right to the resources that will help them the most, I will help you find them so you can make informed decisions and the best choice for you.
I want to thank those who have spoken up on behalf of themselves or anyone else. Thank you for bringing light and honesty to our community, may it shine bright and pure.
